What the data says

In America’s middle schools, the lives of millions of students are negatively affected by a lack of basic kindness. Based on data from the U.S. Department of Education, here is what we know about what’s happening inside and outside of our middle schools:

  • Bullying and harassment continue to undermine the positive impact of school.
  • An alarming number of middle school students are disengaged from school.
  • Cyberbullying is an increasingly serious problem.
  • Suicide by children ages 10-14 doubled between 2007 and 2014
