“At our school, Teach Kindness offered an opportunity to reinforce and extend our current initiatives to create a true, community school in a district and neighborhood surrounded by economic inequality, violence, and negative messages.”
John Cunningham, Kindness Captain, Waltersville School, Bridgeport, CT
“At Center City PCS Brightwood, our students make a daily commitment to achieve with heart, achieve with greatness, and achieve with others in mind. Our staff is dedicated to teaching our students about the importance of being scholars who exhibit strong character. Teach Kindness was a perfect complement to support the kind of growth we wanted to see in our students.”
Principal Rachel Tommelleo, Center City PCS Brightwood, Washington, DC
After a few weeks of making an effort to be kind, Teach Kindness became easier and easier to take part in. Teachers noticed less liter around the school. The Administration commented on fewer students being threatening and violent. One teacher commented, “Teach Kindness was a great idea!” Many of the staff members used the website to find lesson plans to continue the kindness into their classrooms.
Cherese Smith, Kindness Captain, Ozark Junior High School, Ozark, AR
“By actively teaching kindness, we are demonstrating its importance and as we continue to foster it within our building, we are developing character and respectful citizenship in our students. As one of our students aptly said, “Kindness isn’t just a word – it’s a whole lot more than that.”
Katie Thompson & Meghan Sharp, Kindness Co-Captains, Northwest Guilford Middle School, Guilford County, NC
“Teach Kindness allowed our students — and staff! — to reflect on how their smallest actions can have a positive impact on the world around them. It strengthened our collective sense of empathy and made us a closer, more supportive school community.”
